The crazy secrets of how supermarkets prepare for Christmas

Lidl will cut the prices of a 1kg bag of carrots to just 29p down from 44p - making them the cheapest on offer.

It will also slash the price of a 500g of Brussel sprouts and parsnips from 65p and 56p respectively to only 29p.

The price promotions will run until December 27 so you'll have plenty of time to buy the discount veggies before the big day.

Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's are also chopping their prices as supermarkets battle to win the festive price war.

A 500g  bag of Brussels sprouts is on offer for 65p at Morrisons, while Sainsbury's is offering the same discounts on its parnsips.

Tesco slashed the prices of its organic carrots from £1 to 79p for 700g bag - a 21 per cent discount. It's also running an offer on its baby Brussels sprouts.

Last year, a Christmas veggie price war between Lidl, Aldi and Asda pushed the prices as low as 19p per bag in the run-up to Christmas.

We would recommend you to always compare the price of their shopping before they leave the house.
