MAUR'S THE CHOICE

Amazon slammed for new ‘sneaky’ £3.99 fee on same-day deliveries under £40

AMAZON customers have slammed the online giant's new charge for same day delivery.

Customers now have to pay £3.99 on orders under £40 on its Prime Now service.

And that's on top of the £79 annual fee Amazon Prime members pay to get free delivery.

They'll now be forced to pay the additional charge if they want their order on the same day under its Prime Now service.

Previously, Amazon had a minimum order of £20 for free same day delivery to use the service.

Under the changes, the minimum order is now £15 but any order below £40 comes with the £3.99 charge.

And the move hasn't gone down well with many customers, who took to social media to voice their unhappiness.

Scott Bevan wrote: "Gosh. Adding a £3.99 delivery charge to orders under £40 without notice is very sneaky and not cool. Shame."

Alex Bloor asked: "Has @Amazonprimenow changed its delivery charges? £3.99 for orders under £40. Used to be free for orders under £20?"

Another customer wrote: "It's a shame you've introduced a £3.99 delivery charge on top of an annual fee of £79. Free delivery makes customers more sympathetic to delivery drivers which = generous tips."

Its Prime Now service is an additional benefit to Prime customers and allows items to be delivered on the same day in certain UK cities.

The £3.99 charge applies to its two-hour delivery slots, while if you want an order delivered within just one hour, you'll pay £7.99.

Last week, it announced that it would be holding a TEN DAY mammoth long sale in the run-up to Black Friday.

The sale will see major discounts on a range of electronics, Amazon devices, toys, fashion, jewellery and more.

The spokesperson told The Sun Online that the changes only affects Prime Now and its Same Day service is unchanged.
