SPUDDY BRILLIANT

Asda now does posh wagyu beef dripping roast potatoes and they cost just £1.25

The supermarket's post potatoes - with a crisp golden outer and light, fluffy inner - are coated in rich wagyu beef dripping.

NO Christmas dinner is complete without golden roasties.

And this year Asda has raised its spud game by introducing posh wagyu beef dripping potatoes for just £1.25.

 Asda has answered potato prayers with the launch of the most indulgent potatoes yet – Wagyu Beef Dripping Potatoes.

The tasty spuds are already available across Asda stores and online.

Prices start from £1.25 for a 400g pack that serves two people - but they may increase up to £1.65 over the festive period.

An Asda spokesperson said: "This year we want to make our roasties extra special by pairing them with the holy grail of indulgence - wagyu beef dripping.

"You’ll be sure to impress your guests and have them begging for seconds with these scrumptious spuds!";

It's worth noting that it would, of course, be cheaper to buy a simple bag of potatoes and cook them in duck or beef fat.

 Asda’s Extra Special Wagyu Beef Dripping Roast Potatoes are available from 4th November nationwide for under £1.70.

For example, Asda's own King Edward Potatoes cost £1.89 but for a 2.5 kg bag. While at Tesco the same bag of spuds is currently selling for £1.

Wagyu beef is usually one of the most expensive in the world.

The cows are usually grass-fed on open New Zealand pastures and will usually set you back £45 in a top-end restaurant.

Taking the lead from the Wagyu beef burgers and sparkling wine at Aldi and Lidl, Asda also started offering “the very best posh food" for bargain prices.
