Morrisons and Aldi are having a FOOT-LONG sausage price war
The two budget supermarkets are battling it out over who's got the cheapest foot-long sausage - but here's where you can get more banger for your buck
ALDI and Morrisons are sparring in a meaty duel over who's can sell the cheapest foot-long sausage - and here's who's crowned the wiener and who's the wurst (get it?).
Whilst there's no debating over the size of the foot-long bangers, the two supermarkets are in stiff competition and keep dropping their prices in an attempt to offer the cheapest price for the meaty sticks.
The foot-long sausage-fest started when Aldi first launched the mighty porker last week where we reported that they needed a baguette to contain them.
They come in packs of two and cost £1.89 - which works out at 95p each.
In an attempt to underhand them, Morrisons launched their own foot-long bangers for 85p each or £1.50 for two - which is 39p cheaper than Aldi's pair.
And then, since seeing our article, Aldi shot back by dropping prices down to £1.49 for a pack of two - 1p cheaper than Morrisons.
Now in an un-bun-lievable turn of events, Morrisons has slashed their prices by another 15p when you buy two, bringing the price for a pair down to £1.35.
Since the publication of this article, Aldi has dropped the price of their jumbo meat sticks to 99p a pair, whilst Morrisons has gone even further by cutting the cost of two to 95p.
Aldi and Morrisons are the only supermarkets to be stocking such giant sausages on shelves and are hoping their big bangers will capture the hearts of revellers on Guy Fawkes Night.
Traditionally, people head out to watch fireworks over the weekend of November 5 and sausages are often the favourite food to warm people up as they watch the displays.
Aldi's succulent sausages are said to be 12" of porky deliciousness and made from 100 per cent British meat.
But where Aldi falls short is the lack of a giant hot-dog bun to safely secure your meat.
Morrisons - whose sausages are also 100 per cent British pork - has created a perfectly sized, freshly baked bun too which you can pick up for 50p for two.
Aldi is stocking the supermarket as of today and Morrisons will only be stocking their foot-long sausages until November 5.
Whilst the Sun Online hasn't tasted either of these sausages, we can tell you which is the healthier option for your wallet.
MEAT TREAT? Aldi is launching Prosecco-infused cocktail sausages… but we’re not convinced that’s a good thing
If you're looking to get the best banger for your buck, you're (now) better off heading to Morrisons.
It's not the first time Morrisons has taken on the mighty sausage.
Earlier this summer the supermarket launched a giant, foot-long sausage roll for just £1.
