EAT now sells festive ‘pigs in blankets’ with mash and gravy
A festive twist on the British classic is Pigs in Blankets on top of creamy mash potato and covered in a onion gravy
THERE'S no denying that Christmas really makes food retailers up their game.
And we're so glad that it does because popular food chain EAT is bringing a dish of Pigs in Blankets, Mash & Gravy to their Christmas menu - and it looks tasty.
EAT's Pigs in Blankets has graced the festive menu for a few years now, but it's the first time that it will be served with traditional mash and gravy.
Although the Sun Online is yet to try the dish, the onion gravy topped with crispy onions really does sound appetising.
The lunchtime main is served hot and costs £5.50 for a bowl.
If you're not a fan of mash and gravy - which we can't see how you couldn't be - or have an intolerance to dairy, you can still enjoy the sausages wrapped in maple-cured bacon in a separate dish.
The Pigs in Blankets Pot is dairy-free and served with EAT's Christmassy cranberry sauce.
At £2.65, they're cheaper than the other dish too, so you could pick one up as a snack.
Normally, if you want to get your hands on pigs in blankets on your lunch break then you'll have to get them in a sandwich, like the Pigs Under Blankets sarnie from Boots or the Turkey Feast with Pigs under Blankets from Aldi.
The Pigs in Blankets with Mustard Mayo & Ale Onion Chutney Hot Roll is back and this year too and is available at both breakfast and lunch for £3.95.
Unfortunately you'll have to wait until November 1 before you will see them on the menu.
EAT has also released details of its other Christmas meals including a range of sandwiches and a Turkey Hot Pot, which costs £5.50.
The stew is made from turkey, leeks, carrots and parsnips in a creamy wholegrain mustard sauce with mashed potato and red cabbage.
They're also dropping sweet treats onto the menu, like the Merry Mincemeat Crumble Bar which looks like it might be the ultimate Christmas pudding for your lunchbreak.
FESTIVE GRUB Aldi’s Christmas sandwiches are coming back to stores sooner than you think
It's a butter shortbread topped with traditional mincemeat and crumble.
If a sausage is the way to your heart, then you might want to try Aldi's prosecco-infused cocktail sausages.
The boozy bangers aren't just glazed in the stuff, but are actually soaked in the fizzy booze.
