M&S is selling pumpkins with spooky faces LASERED on top them – and they cost £4 each
TRICK or treaters have no excuse for dodgy Jack-o’-lanterns this Halloween because Marks and Spencer has launched ready to carve pumpkins lasered with spooky faces.
So many of us often set about with ambitious ideas for our pumpkins, finding haunting stencils on the internet to print off to help us create a masterpiece - but it hardly ever goes to plan.
Rather than risking your fingers hacking away at your pumpkin at random, the M&S pumpkins have designs already etched on to them.
The etchings mark an easy path for you to follow to make the eyes, nose and scary mouth shape of your typical Halloween lantern.
You'll still need to use a knife to cut out the pumpkin's face shapes, but following the already indented lines will make the process easier.
M&S came up with the idea after it has been trialling lasering information on avocados in a bid to cut down on packaging.
But hassle-free pumpkin carving comes at a cost. At £4 each, that's just over five times more expensive than a large pumpkin from Lidl, which costs 59p.
Other, cheaper options include a large pumpkin from Asda for £1 or two medium sized fruits for £1 at Morrisons.
Matt O’Hagan from M&S said: "We’ve taken the stress out of carving so everyone can enjoy making the perfect spooky Halloween lantern."
It's not the most expensive pumpkin on the market - Morrisons has grown Frankenstein shaped pumpkins in time for Halloween.
There's absolutely no need to carve these creepy pumpkin heads at all but they'll set you back £15 each.
The steep price of the pumpkin is down to the supermarket's good cause, where all proceeds of the Jack-o'-lanterns go to children's cancer charity, CLIC sargent.
