Marks & Spencer Christmas range has been rolled out already with sandwiches, cards and decorations
Shoppers spot festive turkey sarnies, Christmas crackers and greetings cars in larger shops - more than 10 weeks before the big day
MARKS & Spencer has begun rolling out its Christmas range — more than two weeks before Halloween.
Shoppers have spotted turkey and stuffing sarnies, festive crackers and greetings cards in some stores.
The official launch date of the shop's Christmas stock is 1 November — and the big day itself is more than 10 weeks away.
Excited customers took snaps and posted praise on social media for the early Christmas treats.
One Twitter user uploaded a photo of the Turkey Feast sandwich — complete with cherry red packaging — praising M&S for their "nice work".
Another said: "Marks and Spencer's have got their Christmas decorations in!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!".
But others will see the pre-rollout range, currently only in larger stores, as an example of festive celebrations beginning too early.
"Christmas cards are out in @marksandspencer IN OCTOBER. Nobody needs this surely?" one asked.
Another added: "Shout out to Marks and Spencer having their Christmas food catalogue out on October 11th, the s***houses."
An M&S spokesperson said: "Our dates for launching Christmas have not changed this year.
"We know our customers like to start buying some Christmas food now such as mince pies and chocolate, so we just have a small number of these Christmas lines in our stores now.
"The wider Christmas range will then start launching into all stores from November and this will be phased in."
Tesco began selling festive tubs of chocolate in August, 130 days – or a whopping four months – before Christmas.
And this month Boots started displaying its range of festive sandwiches.
