A smaller and more simpler version of the Tamagotchi will go on sale in the UK this month costing £9.99 each
ANYONE who grew up in the 90s will remember the virtual pet craze that was the Tamagotchi - and it's about to make a massive comeback.
Bandai, who make the toy, are planning to release a simpler and smaller version to celebrate the digital toy's 20th anniversary (yes, they are really 20 years old...!).
For those too young to know what a Tamagotchi is, it's a little egg-shaped key ring featuring a VERY basic LCD image of a pet.
You cared for it, fed it, raised it... and then inevitably forgot about it and felt very guilty when it died.
Some kids even got their parents to care for their virtual pets during the day, after they were banned by schools.
Around 82 million Tamagotchis have been sold worldwide since the toy’s 1997 release.
The toy will be released in six different shell designs, from pale orange and see-through blue to bold contrasting two-tone schemes that have a real 90s look to them.
Each Tamagotchi will include six virtual pets and will cost £9.99 each.
The new version won't look like the snazzy computer games available today, instead it has deliberately been made to appeal to the nostalgia of 20-and-30-somethings who had one back in the day.
The only difference from the old one is that it's got a slightly smaller screen - 32 x 16 pixels to 16 x 16 pixels.
But if you want to get one you'll have to be very fast as the the toy is expected to sell out quickly.

Pre-orders customers in the US on Amazon have already sold out. It's not due to hit shelves in the US until November 5.
