Toys R Us recall Wiggle Ball baby toy over fears children could choke on it
There have been six reports of rubber knobs breaking off, including four reports of pieces of the toy found in children's mouth in the US
TOYS R Us has recalled thousands of infant toys over the risk that some of the pieces can detach and pose a choking hazard to babies.
The recall, which involves the Bruin Infant Wiggle Ball, comes after the toy retailer received six reports of rubber knobs breaking off in the US.
These include four cases when pieces of the products were found in children's mouths. The plastic back can detach as well, according to the retailer.
Almost 30,000 infant toys have already been recalled in the US and some 3,000 were taking off shelves in Canada.
Although, the recall first appeared on the company's US website, the Wiggle Ball is a global item and has also been removed from UK stores, Toys R Us confirmed.
A spokeswoman for the company said: "This item is now off sale and we ask customers who have bought this item to return it to a Babies R Us or Toys R Us for a full refund
The Wiggle Ball toy, also known as a Giggle Ball, has textured bumps for gripping and has orange, green and yellow rubber knobs around the surface.
It wiggles, vibrates and plays three different musical tunes. It has an on/off switch and requires 3 AA batteries to operate.
In a notice posted on its website Toys R Us said the recalled wiggle balls have model number 5F6342E and Toys “R” Us printed on the product.
Shoppers who have bought the product are being urged to return it immediately to Toys R Us or Babies R US for a full refund.
The toy is not the only product aimed at kids that has been recalled in recent months.
