How to recoup thousands of pounds on eBay after your wedding — plus use your Sun Savers code to win £100,000
IF YOU’VE got hitched recently, you’ll know how expensive it can be.
The average wedding now tops £27,000 and can land newlyweds in debt for years.
But a new trend for “selling your wedding” can recoup costs worth thousands and put you back into the black.
After the big day, brides and grooms sell everything they can to others about to tie the knot. It can be a brilliant way to have big wedding without a big budget.
October is the top time for selling wedding items, as the wedding season ends and before the pre-Christmas nuptial rush.
So we’ve teamed up with to bring you seven tips to get started.
- Don’t wait for too long after the wedding to sell your items, to avoid getting too attached to them.
- Be honest about whether you need to keep them. Favours, placeholders and flower vases may hold great memories, but do you really need them?
- Be clear on what the items can be used for. For example, if you used jam jars as vases, list them as being ideal centrepieces for a christening.
- A second-hand wedding dress can sell for thousands. Get yours professionally cleaned.
- Make sure the things you want to sell are well looked after. If there is damage to any item, be honest when you list it, show photos and price accordingly.
- Use your own wedding photography to inspire people and show them how the items you are selling would look at their own wedding. A simple picture of the dress or how your wedding tables looked will help to drive up prices.
- Don’t be afraid to sell your items for more than the price you paid. If you got a pair of designer shoes in the sale and they are in good condition, do your research and make sure you have an asking price that is close to the going rate.
