Best beer and bangers deals to celebrate Oktoberfest – and the prices start from just 59p

BRITAIN will soon get a German-style makeover with Brits dressed in lederhosen enjoying giants steins of beer in celebration of Oktoberfest.

The Munich beer festival attracts around six million visitors a year and is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair).

But Oktoberfest has gone global over recent years - and in Britain it's more popular than ever.

Events in London are taking place from September 28 and running all the way through to October 8.

Oktoberfest celebrations, complete with beer, bratwurst and everything Bavarian, will also be held across the UK, including Edinburgh and Manchester.

 is the biggest ever authentic event in the UK and is launching between October 5 and 22.

Many supermarkets have been tapping into the growing popularity of the event by offering promotions on beers and bangers.

Alpenfest Bavarian Pork (Roundbeer) Sausage - £1.79

Lidl has rolled out five new German drinks from Bavaria with prices starting from 59p.

The range is already available to buy at Lidl stores across the UK from Thursday September 21 while stocks last.

It includes a shandy-style Naturtrübes Radler for 59p as well as a Festbier and a wheat beer for less than £1.

A limited editon of a Festbier and Stein glass will also be on sale for £4.49.

If beer isn’t your thing or you’re looking for an alternative for your guests a Zünftler Black Forest Cherry Schnapps is also on sale for £14.99.

It also has a selection of food which include traditional Bavarian pork sausages for as little as £1.79.

Waitrose is also joining in the party with its own German themed event.

The posh supermarket is stocking five litre German mini kegs for those celebrating with their own mini beer-fests at home.

Sadly, the Warsteiner kegs come with a hefty price tag of £16.

For those looking for a more budget friendly offer, Waitrose is also stocking its own Camden Town Oktoberfest lager for £7.50 for four 330ml bottles.

The brewery says: “The beer is best served in a big stein, with a lot of foamy head, alongside classic fest fare like the three Ps: Pork, potatoes and pretzels.”

Plus until October 11, you'll get 20 per cent off on a selection of beer like Waitrose German Pils now selling for £1.59 instead of £1.99 or its Bitburger Pils now priced at £3.99 for four bottles of 330ml instead of £4.99.

    Asda is running a wide range of promotions on its beers as well as German and Austrian foods.

    Brits will be able to get their hand on some German slices for £1.84, two for £3) and some German salami for 89p.

    Although, it has no German beers on offer the supermarket is running promotions on all of its usual range.

    This means that customers can get a Leffe or Hoegaarden beer for £4 instead of £5.

    You can also get Desperados or Tiger beer for £10 instead of £12.

    But it's still worth checking out its beer and sausage deals.

    The discount supermarket just added loads of craft ales to its shelves and they cost just £1.29 per bottle.
