Star Wars stamps released TODAY! Where can I buy the Royal Mail collection and what happens under UV light?
A set of out-of-this-world stamps have been launched to celebrate the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
They feature pictures of droids and aliens from the movie franchise, but where can fans get hold of them?
When are the Star Wars stamps released?
The eight new stamps – which are set to become major collectors’ items – have been illustrated by British artist Malcolm Tween.
They are one sale from TODAY (October 12) and can be or at the Post Office.
The Royal Mail say the stamps celebrate the major contribution British film-makers and actors have had to the movie franchise.
Who is Malcolm Tween?
The stamps have been illustrated by Malcolm Tween, who also created a previous collection of Star Wars stamps back in 2015 to coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
He has been an official Star Wars artist since 2004 and has created a number of designs for the franchise.
These include a Revenge of the Sith style guide and a series of limited edition Star Wars prints for Celebration IV.
Can I pre-order the new Royal Mail collection?
Fans were able to pre-order their Star Wars stamps on the .
Some gifts and collectables are limited to a run of 750, so you might have to be quick to get your hands on them before they sell out.
Fans can expect to pay around £6.50 for a presentation pack of all eight new stamps in a protective cover that includes character facts and images.
What happens to the Star Wars stamps under UV light?
The stamps include characters from the movie franchise - and have hidden details that are only visible under ultraviolet light.
Characters include Han Solo’s faithful co-pilot Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker’s loyal companion R2-D2 and nervous droid C-3PO.
One stamp will include a new alien called a Porg – a small flightless bird which lives on the remote planet Ahch-To where Luke Skywalker is living in exile.
When is the new Star Wars film being released?
Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been given an official release date for 15 December, 2017.
Its creators have fought to keep major details about the movie strictly under wraps.
But the story is expected to pick-up from the end of the last film, The Force Awakens, where Luke Skywalker and prodigy Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, meet for the first time.
Episode 9, the final film in the sequels trilogy, is set to be released in May 2019.
