Tesco online shopper outraged after he’s charged FULL PRICE for discount offers – here’s how to avoid it
The supermarket said there is nothing wrong with its website and that the error is due to bad timing
A TESCO online customer has voiced his outrage after being charged full price for discounted products.
Philip Pawley realised none of his goods were discounted once his full weekly grocery delivery arrived along with his receipt.
He is now urging fellow shoppers to be more careful when shopping online at Tesco.
He told: “My weekly delivery arrived but all of the offers were charged at full price even though the confirmation email showed the offer prices.
"When I questioned it I was told that prices do fluctuate and they wouldn't do anything about it. Only when I complained did they acknowledge they had a computer issue and it is still unresolved."
But when contacted by the Sun Online, Tesco insisted there was no problem with its website.
The pricing error is actually due to bad timing, according to the retailer.
A spokesperson for Tesco said: “We clearly list the dates that products are on offer below each item on our website.

"If a customer chooses to receive their delivery outside of the special offer dates, they will also see a ‘missed offers’ webpage so there’s no reason to miss out on any deals.”
To avoid the same unpleasant surprise as Mr Pawley customers just have to be more careful when ordering their products online and make sure offers are still valid on the date of their delivery slot.
Below are examples of what a shopping basket could look like if you choose a delivery date when a promotion is not running and one of a Tesco missed offer page.
Customers will directed to the second page if they have not qualified for an offer.
Tesco offered Mr Pawley a full refund for the price difference along with a £20 voucher, according to the Mirror.
Earlier this year, an investigation from the BBC found Tesco customers were being ripped off by out-of-date price offers which did no get applied at the till.
Expired offers were found at 33 of 50 stores visited by the BBC’s Inside Out programme over a period of three-months in the West Midlands, Liverpool and Leeds.
The supermarket has since pledged to double check the accuracy of its price labels at all of its 3,500 stores across the UK.
Meanwhile, Aldi customers last week were shocked to discover that they have been charged double for a bag of shopping.
The budget store reimbursed customers saying it was a one-off technical error that took place at one of their regional processing centres.
