Pasties recalled from Asda and Lidl because they may contain shards of glass
The pasty products are made by Peter's Food Service Ltd and sold in Lidl and Asda
TWO supermarkets have issued an urgent recall for a number of meat and vegetarian pasty products because they may contain fragments of glass.
The products made by Peter's Food Service Ltd are sold in Asda and Lidl.
They include steak slices sold by Asda, chicken and mushroom pasties sold by Lidl, as well as a number of other products made by the food company.
A spokesperson from Lidl said that they had been notified by their supplier that there was a glass breakage from a light bulb during manufacturing and that it was recalling them as a precaution.
Customers should not eat any of the affected products and can return them to the store where they bought them for a full refund, according to the Food Standards Agency.
A spokesperson from Lidl said: "We would like to reassure our customers that Lidl only works with reputable, accredited suppliers, who have strict controls and procedures in place to ensure that our products meet the high standards expected by both ourselves and our customers.
"We are, therefore, very sorry that this was not the case on this occasion and are in close communication with the supplier on this matter."

Products are often withdrawn by supermarkets and retailers if there is a risk and this is usually as a precautionary measure.
Yesterday, more than a dozen sandwiches, sandwich fillers and salads were withdrawn by supermarkets after fears they may have been contaminated with a Dutch pesticide.
The items were being sold at Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Asda and Morrisons.
