BAG A BARGAIN

The tool that helps you snag clothes and furniture on eBay at an 90% discount – and prices start at just £1

The tool picks out eBay listings under £1 that are near the end of the auction

Swooping in on eBay items when they are about to end is nothing new - but a handy tool spotted by eagle-eyed bargain hunters could help you navigate the maze of items on offer and pinpoint must-have purchases starting from less than £1.

has spotted a website called Lastminute Auction that pinpoints listings which are about to expire - and they claim the discounts are good as 90 per cent off the original price.

searches listings on eBay and only shares those that are ending within the next hour and cost less than £1.

Items include antiques, high street fashion and furniture and they claim that some of the discounts are as much as 90 per cent.

Tom Church, co-founder, said: "You want to look for items which are just about to close but have failed to get any bids.

"You can swoop in at the last minute, place a very cheap offer and bag the bargain."

Tom added: "The listings update every minute so it gets quite addictive. Keep refreshing the page and use the search function to narrow down what you're after."

The Sun Online tested the website this morning to see what items it could find.

We found plenty of fashion items for sale from big high street names, including TopShop, Marks and Spencer, New Look and Next.

It takes a bit of sifting through the listings to find what you want.

You can search by keyword and then do a separate search to find your size or a particular style.

One of the best listings we found was for a white peplum top from Dorothy Perkins in a size 10 for just 99p. Similar tops on the retailers website usually cost between £15 to £25.

We also found a dress from Urban Outfitters for 99p. A quick search on the retailers' website and we found similar ones for £50.

In terms of furniture, there were much fewer listings. We did find a 1950s Laura Ashley armchair for 99p, as well as a set of four chairs from Habitat for £1.

One of the problems with furniture is that you may need to be close-by to pick it up.

Lastminute Auction has lots of other categories too, including antiques, coins and toys.

It shows you the price, time left for bidding, number of bids and the price after postage.

More ways to pick up bargains from eBay

IF you're shopping on eBay it's worth checking out these tools too.

  • Goofbid - Search for local deals, or those with common spelling mistakes such as "Plystation4" instead of "Playstation 4". Plus, use the ebay "Sniper" function to place a last second bid to win.
  • Bidvoy - How much is your stuff worth? Bidvoy tells you the average price things have sold for and the best time to list your items. On the flip side, it also tells you when the best is to buy it.
  • ebay Trending Deals - An unknown section of ebay's website introduced earlier this year is 'Trending Deals'. This shows you Buy It Now listings rising in popularity - usually because of the price.

But there's no guarantee that you'll win the bid but as all the listings are nearing their ending time.

Another catch, is that the items may be quite old and show signs of wear and tear from usage.

It's also worth reading the listing description carefully, looking at the pics and checking the condition of the items before placing a bid.
