Amazon Prime Day 2017 – how to make sure the deals are ‘real’ and get involved without paying the £79 fee

AMAZON has launched its annual Prime Day sale, slashing the price of more than 100,000 items - but there are plenty of catches to watch out for.

The online retail giant has promised discounts for techies, beauty fans, gamers, foodies and fitness fanatics.

Prices will drop every ten minutes, with new products being added every hour.

Once Amazon has sold a pre-decided amount of products the deal on that item will end.

One of the biggest deals is the Amazon Echo Dot, which is being sold for £34.99 down from £49.99. This is a good deal because Amazon has only ever sold it as low as £40.

The sale started at 6pm yesterday and runs for 30 hours, but in order to get access you need to be an Amazon Prime member, which costs £79 per year or £7.99 per month.

You can get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime if you want to try out the service but you must remember to cancel your subscription at the end of the free period - or you’ll get charged.

Experts have warned shoppers not to get sucked into buying products that they don’t need.

Gary Caffell, deals editor at MoneySavingExpert.com, said: “It's important to remember this is ultimately a marketing ploy from Amazon, trying to get you to part with more of your hard-earned cash.

“Don't be sucked in by the hype and buy things you don't need or can't afford just as it appears to be a decent discount.

Editor in Chief of money.co.uk, Hannah Maundrell said: “Do your very best not to be impulsive, you might end up wasting your money on things you don’t really need – even if something feels like the deal of the century remember to ask yourself if you really truly need it.”
