Sun Savers has already been a huge hit with our Scottish readers and in our pilot scheme across the rest of the UK.

But you don’t just have to take our word for it.

It takes seconds... it's like getting money for nothing

ENGINEER Alan Wilson, 48, from Chesterfield is saving his Sun Savers cash for Christmas. He’s already got £10 in the kitty. He says:

The best thing about the Sun Savers app is how simple it is.

I scan the code every morning when I get the newspaper, and it takes just seconds out of my day.

It’s like getting money for nothing.

I banked £25 through the app a couple of months ago when I was going on a weekend away to Wales.

Now I’m planning to save up the fivers until Christmas.

It’s an expensive time of year, and every little helps.

I would definitely recommend Sun Savers.

If I buy things online, the cash is there ready

RETIRED hospital cleaner Kath Holden, 74, from Blackpool is always looking out for a bargain, and so she loves the Sun Savers scheme. She says:

I only started using computers a couple of years ago and even I find the Sun Savers website simple to use.

The best thing about Sun Savers is that if you buy the paper every day anyway then it works out you’re basically getting a couple of free copies each week.

It’s a really nice reward.

I get the money transferred to my PayPal account so if I buy things online the Sun Savers cash is there ready to spend.

It doesn't take long, and I like the fact it's dead simple

CARER Michael Grieves, 54, from Hartlepool borrows the newspapers from his dad Clifford, 79, so he can use the Sun Savers codes. He says:

I’ve just moved in with my dad and he mentioned the Sun Savers app to me, and I thought that if he’s not going to use the codes I may as well.

I’ve said I’ll treat him to something with the money.

When I realised it carries on and on every 28 days I was over the moon. It’s great.

Signing up was really quick and easy, and it doesn’t take long at all to enter the code.

I like the fact that it’s dead simple.

A hols lot of savings

Three in five parents don't have the cash to cover extra expenses over summer break

IT’S just a few weeks until the school holidays and a new study shows families will fork out £468 entertaining kids.

The annual Post Office Money Parents’ Summer Spending report, out today, reveals more than half of mums and dads are stressed about covering the summer break costs.

Owen Woodley, Managing Director at Post Office Money, said: “There can be many hidden costs over the summer months and while two in five parents we spoke to have the cash to cover these additional costs, many do not.

“Some will dip into their savings and some families are even saying they’re likely to miss bill payments or even take a mortgage holiday to help manage this overspend.”

Here are our top tips to help cover the cost of the summer holidays.

  • Plan ahead, break down your intended weekly spend and stick to your budget.
  • Where you spot a shortfall and are likely to need to rely on credit, make sure you have the right credit product for your needs. Don’t risk going into unapproved overdraft.
  • If you’re going to use a credit card, try to get a 0 per cent deal so you have longer to repay and are not caught out with interest charges.
  • Track down deals in The Sun and online. There are often 2 for 1 offers on theme parks, etc.
  • Travelling by train? Keep costs down by booking well in advance and travelling off-peak.
  • Team up with other parents to organise free group activities like a picnic, sports tournament or scavenger hunt.
  • Hundreds of museums throughout the UK offer free entry all year round, while others are free at certain times. Check local websites to find the best near you.
  • Have a creative day at home, with baking, painting, crafts or a spot of gardening.

He says: “I started reading the Sun when I was a boy, and it has been my favourite newspaper ever since. It has the best stories and the best columnists.
