MyFridgeFood website gives recipes based on what’s in your fridge – and means you’ll NEVER waste food again
MyFridgeFood lets users give an inventory of their fridge’s content and gives them recipe options based on those items
FORWARD planning is a great way to cut down on your grocery bills, but the best of intentions after a big supermarket shop can go to pot - and result in lots of food being chucked in the bin.
According to the latest statistics, Brits are throwing out £13 billion worth of food annually, costing each household around £700 each year.
Ingredients are separated into categories such as bread, canned products, condiment, pasta /grains and the options are pretty extensive.
As users check the boxes with the products that they have at their disposal and click on "Find Recipes", they’ll be given a range of recipes of meals they can make.
If the recipe requires something other than what they have on hand, the website will list the items needed to complete it.
MyFoodFridge also includes pages of cooking tips such as a list of the easy ways to test the freshness of eggs or how to fix burnt rice.
If the design of the website is pretty basic, the idea behind it could be a game changer.
After selecting four ingredients - apples, broccoli, chicken and cream cheese - MyFoodFridge gave us more than ten recipe options including cream cheese pancakes, chicken and broccoli rolls and teriyaki bowl.
Writing about the website on the Facebook group “”, founded by bargain hunter and blogger called Ricky Willis, member Wendy Jacobs said: “If money is tight at the end of the month and you're struggling with what groceries you have left to make a decent meal for your family, then this link might just be the answer to your prayers.”
“These sites are perfect for the things that are abandoned at the back of the cupboard,” she added.
