Sun Savers has already been a huge hit with our Scottish readers.

But you don’t just have to take our word for it.

See what three happy readers — Anthony, Jayne and Karl  — have to say about being among the first members of our rewards club.

It’s a great bonus – the cash goes into a savings account

CUSTOMER services manager Anthony Henderson, 34, from Manchester, says every little helps as he is saving up for a deposit on a house. He uses the Sun Savers app and has banked £15 so far. Anthony says:

I’ve been collecting the codes for a while – it goes straight into a savings account.

I would like to buy a house one day, so every extra bit of cash that comes my way goes into the bank for the deposit.

It will be worth it in the end. As I’m buying the paper anyway, it’s a great bonus. The app works really smoothly too.

Signing up was so easy and it's nice to get £5 every month

RETIRED civil servant Jayne Revell, 66, from Hawick in the Scottish Borders, likes that the Sun Savers app is so easy to use. Scanning in the daily codes is now part of her routine each day. Jayne, who lives with partner Leonard Johnson, also 66, says:

My partner noticed the Sun Savers app being advertised in the paper and he suggested that I should download it.

I’m not at all good with technology but I found it really easy to sign up and use. I’m really happy with it and now it’s part of my daily routine. It’s nice to get £5 back every month.

Sun Savers pays for a couple of pints when I'm in the pub

BUTCHER Karl Pickup, 50, who is from Greenock, Renfrewshire, reckons using the Sun Savers app is a no-brainer as he already buys the newspaper every day. Karl says:

The thing that attracted me to the app is that it’s basically free money. I see it as a bonus for buying my favourite paper.

Every time I get a fiver, it just goes into the bank and pays for a couple of pints next time I’m down the pub. I read about Sun Savers in the newspaper and downloaded the app straight away.

It was self-explanatory to use and I like how simple it is.

We bust the myths about Sun Savers

Love pets fur richer, fur poorer

HERE’S paws for thought – owning a pet can cost hundreds of pounds each year.

Big dogs are the priciest pets, costing up to £2,000 a year. Cats average more than £770 annually and even a humble goldfish can set you back £184 over 12 months, new research shows.

But there are ways to reduce what you pay for your pet.

Natasha Rachel Smith, consumer affairs editor for topcashback.co.uk, says: “It’s important you research to make sure you can afford a pet before taking on the responsibility.

“Dogs have traditionally been man’s best friend. However, they are often costly — and even small pets mean more money going out the door.”

Here are topcashback.co.uk’s tips . . .

Do your research. Before you buy, work out what your pet will cost. Pedigree animals cost more and may mean expensive medical bills if they are prone to bad health.

Adopt. There are hundreds of animals looking for a good home and a rescue pet may cost less to buy.

Make a pet budget. Include food, grooming, insurance and any other costs. Any spare money left at the end of the month can go into an emergency pot for your pet in case of surprise vet bills.

Cut the cost of pet insurance. Use comparison sites to find the best deal, then lower the cost further by purchasing through a cashback site.

Buy own-label food. Supermarket pet food can be as nutritious as top brands and is often far cheaper.

Buy in bulk. Big bags are usually cheaper per gram and if you spot your pet’s favourite brand on offer, buy plenty and stock up.

Do your own grooming. Ask for a demonstration from your vet or groomer first, but simple tasks such as brushing and nail-clipping can be done at home.

Forget the extras. Your pet doesn’t need novelty shoes or fancy collars.

Make your own. It is cheap and easy to make your own pet toys, clothes and play areas.

Ask a favour. Kennel and cattery fees can be sky-high so ask family, friends or neighbours to look after your pet if you go away.
