Lidl teams up with Heidi Klum to launch affordable fashion line

The collection will launch throughout Lidl’s network of over 650 stores across the UK later this year

BARGAIN hunters might soon be able to buy high-end fashion for less at their local Lidl store.

The budget supermarket chain today announced that it is collaborating with fashion icon and TV celebrity Heidi Klum, who is keen to curate a "high-end yet affordable collection" which is accessible for everyone.

The collection will launch throughout Lidl’s network of over 650 stores across the UK and will be rolled out to stores in the US and Europe later this year.

Klum has in the past designed lingerie for Victoria’s Secret and shoes for Birkenstock but Lidl is keeping the details of its latest new fashion partnership under wraps for now.

Speaking of the launch, Klum said: "Lidl is known for making quality products at affordable prices and I’m proud to partner with them on this fashion collaboration."

Ryan McDonnell, commercial director at Lidl UK, said that Klum was chosen for the collaboration because she is a "global fashion icon and grounded individual". He added: "Heidi is an incredible source of inspiration, which we think will really resonate with our customers."

McDonnell continued: "We are extremely excited about offering our most premium fashion range to date, and look forward to the first collection going on sale later this year."

The news comes as budget stores Aldi and Lidl are continuing to gain ground on the UK’s big four supermarkets, luring in thousands of cash-strapped shoppers looking for bargains.

Last year multi-millionaire heiress Paris Hilton also partnered with Lidl to launch a collection of hair styling products.

Her range included hairbrushes for just £1.99 and hairdryers for £9.99.
