The deal will be available until May 9 in stores around the UK.

Supermarkets usually offer dine-in meal deals around key calendar dates, like Valentine's Day and Christmas.

But the new offer from the Co-op coincides with the relaunch of Marks & Spencer's hugely-popular dine-in for £6 offer.

It means shoppers can pick up a main, side and dessert for just £6 until April 25.

Menu options include steak, hunters chicken, cottage pie and hot chocolate fudge pudding.

Rising food prices and a squeeze on spare cash means supermarkets have been left grappling for customers.

Shoppers have been flocking to bargain supermarkets Aldi, Lidl and Iceland in a bid to cut their growing grocery bills.

Rising food prices mean the average UK household has had to pay an extra £21.31 at the tills over the past three months.
