Just Eat issues warning to customers to update app over new order rules

JUST Eat has warned customers that they will need to provide new information for deliveries.
As part of the new app update, the take-away hub will be asking shoppers to provide a date of birth and photo ID to prove it when purchasing certain items.
In a message to diners Just Eat said that "we'll soon need your date of birth".
It continued: "We’ll soon need your birth date, in our continued efforts to improve safety and security around age-restricted items, you will soon be asked to enter your date of birth when ordering age-restricted items in the upcoming app update.
"Once the courier has arrived, you will confirm you are of legal age with photo ID, and your birth date will be recorded in order to complete the delivery."
The food delivery app also reassured customers that the personal information will be kept secure and only used for confirming they are old enough to buy certain items.

The age-restricted items include alcohol, tobacco, cigarettes, cigars and e-cigarettes.
These are all age restricted items wherever you buy them and customers will need to prove they are 18 or above.
Valid ID includes passports, driving licenses, and national identity cards from European Union member states.
This comes as the delivery giant revealed it will soon be selling lingere and sex toys.

It has signed a deal with sexual retail firm Lovehoney, to offer toys, lubricants and accessories.
The X-rated products will be delivered in unbranded bags, with receipts on the inside, to ensure discretion.
Rival Deliveroo teamed up with Ann Summers earlier this year to deliver its lingerie and adult products to homes.
Just Eat sales chief Guido Famback said the move was part of a push to bring products which span “every aspect of our lives”.
He added: “Self-care is becoming more important to consumers, and we are delighted to service our customers with the expansion of our assortment into the category.”
Lovehoney chief exec Johannes Plettenberg said: “We’re ensuring our customers can incorporate sexual wellbeing into their daily lives with ease and discretion.”
