Here’s ways to cut the price of an interview outfit . . .
BORROW THE BEST: Ask friends and family for clothes you can borrow.
A shirt you could never make work or no longer fits may be perfect for a mate, while a pair of their shoes could help you put your best foot forward.
GIVE BACK: Charity shops are a gold mine for affordable workwear.

If you build a rapport with shop staff, you could even ask them to keep an eye out for a blazer or trousers in your size as they come in and set them aside.
SECOND HAND SAVIOUR: Online resale platforms like Vinted, Depop, and eBay have dedicated sections for workwear.
Now is a great time to find bargains as most people clear out and declutter in January.
Set up alerts for quality brands such as Next and Uniqlo and don’t be afraid to haggle with sellers.
GO FOR GLOW: If your interview is via a video call, it may be a good idea to wear plain, neutral colours to avoid any issues with a pattern on camera.
Sit your laptop or phone in front of a window, as natural light will make you look best on camera.
If you’re interviewing late in the day, place a lamp behind your screen for the most flattering light.
HELPING HAND: If you can get a referral from the job centre for the company you are interviewing with, charity Smart Works (smartworks.org.uk) is based in London and Scotland and offers coaching and clothing for women seeking employment.
If you are unemployed and have an old suit, Timpsons offers a free dry- cleaning service.
