Incredible nine-bedroom mansion once owned by pop 80s legend could be yours for just £180,000

The property was previously owned by rock legend Phil Collins

THE INCREDIBLE nine-bedroom mansion, once owned by an eighties pop legend, has been put up for sale for just £180,000.

Situated just off the coast of Scotland, Pennyghael House was first purchased by Phil Collins-led rock band Genesis in 1985.

The group purchased the house in the Ross of Mull Peninsula the same year Collins released his third studio album, No Jacket Required.

Investing £500,000 into the land, the band owned the now derelict property until 1997.

The rockers, Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford were all involved.

Home to nine-bedrooms, it is situated on nearly 12 acres of land.

The estate was put up for sale in 2021, for offers over £5 million, but now, the mansion is being listed for offers over £180,000.

Listed by Bidwells, the description highlights the property's stunning rural location on the Isle of Mull - known for its white sand beaches, wildlife, and breathtaking coastlines, and the home's history, which dates back to 1819.

In particular, the property side has drawn focus to the "enchanting woodlands and grazing", "former walled garden", and opportunity for development.

Pictures show the dramatic coastline with the property surrounded by greenery.

A fence currently sits around the property, presumably to keep others out of the derelict building and any potential hazards.

The description reads: "Once the focal point of Pennyghael Estate, the house now lies in a derelict state but offers a wonderful opportunity for the next custodians to either restore the current house or develop a new property elsewhere on the site, subject to the necessary permissions being obtained.

Rock Royalty's Derelict Mansion Hits the Scottish Market

"Planning permission was granted in 2007 for the demolition of parts of the existing building and restoration of the remainder. The house, as it is, stands in a commanding position in its landscape overlooking the former walled garden, grazing and mixed woodland."

Interested buyers could be interested in the area that surrounds the house with opportunities for keen golfers or sailors to thrive.

Pennyghael itself is a small village with just over 100 residents.

A sub post office and community hall are all located on the Ross of Mull Peninsula.

Meanwhile, The Inn at Port nan Gael is home to a superb assortment of dishes centred around local produce.

Jake Shaw-Tan, Head of Agency, Scotland, at Bidwells said: "This is an incredibly exciting project and a rare opportunity to save a historic country home.

"Mull is a truly special place, and with Pennyghael House overlooking the former walled garden and woodland, the new owner has the chance to create something beautiful."

Meanwhile, you could get the keys to a multi-million-pound manor house owned by the brutal monarch Henry VIII for as little as a tenner.

The stunning £2.5million mansion is being offered in a prize draw, which could set you up for a royally good start to the year.

The six-bedroom property is located 10 minutes from Royal Wootton Basset, Wiltshire, and can be snapped up by anyone entering the  run by competition firm Raffle House.

The firm's executive director James Mieville said: "We're really excited by our latest Dream Home draw for so many reasons.

"It's not only rich in history but also full of potential.

"With the outbuildings ripe for development and the tranquil setting being in such close proximity to London, we could easily imagine the property being an ideal spot for a retreat or holiday rental business."
