CREEPY CRUMPETS

Asda’s selling bunny-shaped crumpets in time for Easter – but they’re freaking some people out

ASDA has started selling bunny shaped crumpets in time for Easter - and they're creeping people out.

The crumpets, which bear a close resemblance to the character of "Frank" in the film Donnie Darko, have been launched by Asda to bring "a bit of Easter fun for all the family to enjoy".

But while some shoppers love the novelty shaped crumpets, others have taken to social media to point out their slightly creepy appearance.

Lily said: "I am very upset about the evolution of bunny crumpets from 'cute, round and friendly' to 'Frank from Donnie Darko'.

While another shopper said the bunny's ears look like horns.

Asda recommends that the fluffy Easter treats are served best lightly grilled until golden brown, then topped with lashings of golden melted butter.

If you're shopping in a Morrisons store today, don't forget to pick up a free hot cross bun.

The supermarket is handing them out for free today in the hope that customers will pass on their free bun to “a neighbour or a loved one in an act of kindness ahead of Easter”.

Customers don’t need to spend anything in store to pick up the freebie, but it is limited to one bun per person.

The hot cross buns will be freshly baked and individually wrapped and available in the grocer’s 491 nationwide stores.
