Supermarket slashes price of Quality Street tubs to cheapest price on shelves right now

Shoppers should act fast if they want to get their hands on the current cheapest tubs of Quality Streets

A SUPERMARKET has slashed the cost of Quality Streets to less than £4 - and it's the cheapest place to get them this week.

Aldi has massively reduced the cost of the festive chocolate favourites.

Aldi has slashed the cost to only £3.95 for a 600g tub, making it the best deal for UK shoppers and it's available from Friday, December 20.

Usually, the Christmas staple retails for £6.

This pockets chocolate fans a saving of £2.05 in the expensive run-up to the holidays.

It comes after the discount store previously sold the tubs for £4.49.

Shoppers are encouraged to get to their nearest store as soon as they can in time for Christmas.

There's a limited time to make the saving, with the offer on from the 20 to 23 December - meaning shoppers only have three days to grab a tub.

Plus they're not available online - only in-store.

As always shoppers are reminded to compare other prices at different supermarkets.

These bags contain 750g of Quality Street chocolate, 150g more than the typical 600g tub available this year and have become available for the first time at all major supermarkets.

However, the refill bag costs just £5 (66p per 100g) at Asda - £1 less than 600g tubs.

The bags include an assortment of individually wrapped milk and dark chocolates, toffees, the famous Green Triangle and The Purple One.

You can purchase them in-store and online at all Asda supermarkets.

The same refill bags cost £5.50 for those with a Nectar card at Sainsbury's, or £6 for those without – the same price as the 600g tubs.

Large refill bags cost £6 for customers with a Clubcard at Tesco or £7 for those without.

Their 600g tubs cost £6 for all customers.

Prices are always subject to change so it's important you check the stores for updates before shopping.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs...

Go own brand - if you're not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you'll save by going for the supermarket's own brand bars.

Shop around - if you've spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it's cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you're getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers - supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they've been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars - most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you've got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Shoppers can also purchase a 750g refill pack from Asda for just £5
