WHEN Lindsey Gage, 42, from Wales discovered Vinted she was blown away by how simple and easy it is to use.

Over the years the mum-of-four has used various selling sites to declutter her home.

First, she tried eBay to sell unwanted items but wasn’t impressed with the time you needed to invest in uploading stuff.

Lindsey said: “I found eBay too hard to use and the upload system was just too time consuming.”

The stay-at-home mum then dabbled with Facebook Marketplace but again it wasn’t a positive experience.

She said: “I didn’t really get on with Facebook Marketplace because of all the waiting around and people letting you down.”

“I also found things didn’t sell that quickly on there either.”

Then 18 months ago Lindsey decided to give Vinted a go a and was pleasantly surprised.

Lindsey said: “When I started using Vinted I was shocked at how easy it was to use and how quickly things sell.”

And with the simplicity of uploading items and how quickly it is to do it, she doesn’t need to set aside a couple of hours to get things online.

She said: “I get my photos in a spare 10 minutes, for example the other day I had five minutes before I needed to leave to pick my girls up from school, so took some pictures.”

"I then upload if I’m waiting in the car or if I’m in the doctor’s surgery – little moments in time.”

And with the automated tick boxes making things even easier Lindsey is hooked.

So much so she made a whopping £2,700 in the 18 months she’s been using Vinted.

And out of that Lindsey has put £100 to one side to go towards her family’s Christmas food shop.

Lindsey has been uploading new items once or twice a week and she’s selling between five and eight items a week.

The busy mum added: “I do a lot of decluttering. I’m quite ruthless. If my girls don’t play with something then I’ll just sell it.”

In doing that she’s become a bit of an expert in maximising profits from selling your unwanted bits and bobs.

So just how does she do it?

Here Lindsey shares her seven-step plan to selling on Vinted.

Step 1 - In the description market what you're selling with an emotional connection, for example; "This was my favourite outfit but sadly my daughter has now outgrown it".

Step 2 - Take pictures on a light background and make sure your lighting is good and take a couple of practice shots to make sure you're happy with how the items look.

Step 3 - Do as many pictures as you can to really showcase the item you're selling - take pictures of the lining, pockets and from every angle. Buyers like to see everything before they buy.

Step 4 - Ensure what you're selling is styled well in the pictures - synch in the waist of a dress and flare out the skirt as much as you can.

Step 5 - Iron it if it looks crumpled - make sure it looks pristine.

Step 6 - Offer bundles, this is especially effective on toys.

Step 7 - Upload items one or two times a week. This helps with your visibility and more buyer will able to see your items.

Lindsey also recommends being organised when you put things on as some items will sell really fast but things can take a bit of time.

She said: “Clothes that take some time to sell are in clear boxes with lids in the garage.

"I have one for my clothes, one for the children and one for toys.”

Another good tip Lindsey shares is saving all the packaging from the things you buy online to reuse, that way you’ll save just a little bit more money.
