PARENTS have been left outraged by a disappointing M&S dinosaur advent calendar - with a huge letdown lurking behind its doors.
The calendar, produced in partnership with the Natural History Museum, is covered with life-like illustrations of the prehistoric creatures.
But, to the amazement of shoppers, the chocolate treats inside aren't dinosaur-shaped.
Instead, they are run-of-the-mill, Christmas-themed chocolates - including one with a Christmas tree on it.
One disgruntled customer took to X to share her disappointment.
She wrote: "Why wouldn't you make the chocolate dinosaur shaped?"

Signing off, she joked: "Cried the 38-year-old to @marksandspencer."
The post went viral - with over 120,000 views, nearly 4000 likes, and 187 retweets.
Meanwhile, hundreds of parents rushed to the comments to express their surprise.
One wrote: "I would be so disappointed. Of course, they should be chocolate dinosaurs!" I've seen so many Christmas dinosaurs around this year. From this M&S tragedy, anyone would think dinosaurs didn't celebrate Christmas too!"

Another said: "My five-year-old son has the same one and was disappointed too."
A third put: "My nephew has this one and was so hoping for dino shaped chocs and a different dino every day."
One commenter decided to give some constructive feedback to the luxury food and clothing brand, instructing them to "get a dinosaur mold".
A spokesperson replied in the comments, saying: "We appreciate your feedback and suggestion for our dinosaur advent calendar.
"I've made sure to share this with our Food team for them to consider in the future!"
On the M&S website, the calendar is described as "a festive treat for curious minds".
The product description says: "It is illustrated with Cretaceous period dinosaurs and hides solid milk chocolate shapes behind each door, helping to add extra fun to the days leading up to Christmas."
Last year, The Sun revealed that shoppers were paying up to four times more for advent calendar chocolates than they would if they bought standard packs.
The worst deals included a £10 Quality Street calendar, which contained 230g of chocolate — a total of 4.3p a gram.

This made the calendar choccies nearly 300 per cent more expensive than usual.

M&S Xmas highlights
The Sun's consumer editor Lynsey Barber got an early taste of Marks and Spencer's Christmas food line up which includes 450 new items.
Here are the highlights.
White Mulled Wine, £6, 11% - 5/10
An interesting twist, but I prefer my white wine cool and crisp, so not for me.
Turkey Feast dip, TBC, - 10/10
A mouthful of Christmas, top of my shopping list and I'll be eating it all winter.
Turkey Feast lasagne, £10 750g - 8/10
Rich and festive, another dish that is spot on with the essential flavours of Christmas, but I'd need a small portion as it's very creamy.
Hot Honey Brie Brulee £7, 288g - 8/10
A cheesy dream, with extra zing from the hot honey and a bit of crunch, a great combo of flavours and a winter warmer.
Halloumi in Blankets with Hot Honey, £5.50, 240g - 10/10
A surprise hit with soft and creamy centres. Possibly better than the originals.
