Greggs unveils ‘tasty’ new Spring menu and there’s a lot going on… including a nacho chilli cheese roll

The new menu, which features a calzone bake and nacho cheese roll, won't be around for long!

GREGGS has launched a Spring menu with eight new food items, but the "tasty" snacks might not appeal to everyone.

There's a pulled pork, bacon and cheddar cheese lattice, which comes topped with a corn and seasoned pork crackling style topping.

The pastry bake, which contains 464 calories, costs £1.50.

Greggs' new spicy calzone bake consists of a variety of meats, including spiced pork, pepperoni, chicken breast, ham, and pork and beef meatballs, as well as mozzerella and cheddar cheese in a spicy tomato sauce.

The filling is encased in sourdough bread and topped with more cheese.

Surprisingly, the bake, which costs £1.30, is only 289 calories.

There's also a vegetarian £1 nacho chilli cheese roll, with sweet potatoes, roasted veg, mixed beans, quinoa and jalapeños, and a cheese and nacho crumb.

The Mexican chipotle chilli wrap is the most expensive snack on the seasonal menu, at £2.60.

It consists of Mexican style chicken breast in a chipotle sauce, topped with mixed peppers and salad leaves in a soft tortilla wrap.

A chunky meat and vegetable soup is also on the menu, costing £1.80.

The new savoury snacks on offer are unlikely to rival the baker's best-seller; sausage rolls.

Earlier this month, the high street chain revealed that it sold more sausage rolls than any other item, with frothy Italian latte coffee its third best-seller.

Chief executive Roger Whiteside declined to name the second best-seller for commercial reasons.

The Spring menu, which is only available in Greggs until May 22, also includes a number of sweet treats, including a caramel cookie doughnut for £1.

There's also a lemon sherbet doughnut for 75p, and a salted caramel cookie for 80p.

The snacks above can be picked up from any of the high street baker's 1,700 plus stores across the UK.

While the new Spring menu might not appeal to everyone, one Greggs mega fan is likely to have been among the first to try out the new menu, which launched on Sunday.

Plumber Josh Weeks has only missed eating at the bakery chain at Christmas, and admitted his boss even calls him whenever he’s late to ask if he’s stuck in a Greggs queue.

He calls the pastry shop his "religion" and has spent more than £2,000 scoffing the chain's bacon and sausage sarnies almost every day for three years.
