What is a customer service job?
If an organisation has customers, it will have a department to look after them.
The job title can range from customer care to customer support or service, but they broadly do the same role, providing customers with information, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Jobs can be in-person, in a call centre or even online.
Other job titles include Customer Consultants and Customer Advisor, but these can also apply to jobs where you provide information on goods and services and sometimes sell to customers either in-store or on the phone.
One of the best things about the job is flexible hours, from part time and weekend work to overnight jobs, there will be a vacancy which suits your needs.
In some cases you can even work from home.

The salary range is large, from £20,000 to £50,000 for a full-time role.
Your exact pay packet will depend on the hours worked, the industry and the complexity of the products and services you are looking after and the amount you need to know to do the job.
Some sectors are highly regulated and you will be paid more for these positions due to the training involved.

Most firms recruit for personality and skillset and will give you comprehensive training.

In terms of skills, hiring managers will look for good communication, problem solving, empathy with the customer and a can-do attitude.
Time management is also important, alongside patience, the ability to think on your feet and conflict resolution.
