Map reveals best Sunday roasts in Britain including cosy pub – is your favourite on the list?

NOTHING rounds off the week like a Sunday roast at your local restaurant.

The hearty dish served with veg, meat, gravy, Yorkshire puddings and crispy roast potatoes has been a staple of British cuisine since the 15th century.

And while you might think that your local serves up the best lunch on the market, a new report has helped rank the number one spots in Britain.

The Good Food Guide has revealed its top 50 best Sunday Roasts across the UK. including everywhere from Glasgow to Devon.

Coming in at number one in London is the Blacklock located in Canary Wharf, London.

The haunt was praised by diners for its great group dining setting and food that tastes as good as a mother's home cooking.

The guide read: "Order the ‘all in’ sharing feast, which comprises a trio of ‘succulent’ dry-aged beef rump, lamb and pork loin with gigantic yorkies, duck-fat roast potatoes and limitless gravy."

Also getting a gold star in the capital is The Canton Arms in Stockwell.

The south-west London pub has been awarded for its meaty roasts and "terrific" atmosphere.

Away from the capital, The Cat Inn in West Sussex has been crowned one of the best locations for a roast in the South East of England.

The restaurant has been described as "Sunday lunch perfection" by the guides and praised for its Orchard Farm pork belly and "sizzling crackling".

Meanwhile, the Howard Arms has been the best spot for a roast in central England.

The Warwickshire pub is recommended for vegetables and its Aberdeen Angus sirloin.

In Herefordshire, The New Inn was praised for its ‘perfectly aged’ roast sirloin of beef or leg of lamb, all set within a "cosy" inn.

Up North, The Abbey Inn in Bylnad North Yorkshire was crowned the best overall for its "family-friendly" atmosphere.

The guide read: "Everyone mentions the glorious toad-in-the-hole filled with slow-braised ox cheek that comes with the salt-aged rump of beef.

"A buzzing family-friendly atmosphere makes it the perfect all-rounder."

Best places to eat in the UK

There are plenty of other top-rated restaurants across the UK that are worth trying out.

Uber Eats reached its shortlist for the coveted Restaurant of the Year title, which includes three burger joints and a Caribbean "shack".

One of this year's finalists is Soho Tavern, a gastropub in Park Road, Birmingham.

In the cosy interior, punters can enjoy British-Indian classics in front of a sports match.

Elsewhere, the British Indian Good Food Guide also revealed its top 20 Indian restaurants from across the United Kingdom.
