ONE of the most banging things about Bonfire Night is the food.
And this is one feast that doesn’t cost a fortune.
Guy Fawkes Night sparklers, such as jacket potatoes, hot dogs and warming puds, cost pennies to make.
And you can keep cooking them up through autumn for comfort food on a budget . . .
GET YOUR JACKET: Baked potatoes are a Bonfire Night staple. Cook them for all the family for a tasty meal for around £1.
For a crispy skin, prick the spuds all over with a fork, rub with a tablespoon of oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Bake in the oven for an hour and 15 minutes, until the skins are crisp and the insides are soft when you insert a knife.
Add beans and cheese for a simple, warming winner, or serve with a tasty beef or vegetarian chilli.
TWICE-BAKED BEAUTIES: Take your jackets up a level by baking them twice.
After the first bake, scoop the soft, fluffy potato out of the shell and mix it with butter, sour cream, bacon and cheese. Then restuff and bake until the cheese starts to brown on top.

BEST BANGERS: Sausages are as much a part of Bonfire Night as rockets and Roman candles.
Keep yours simple by serving them in a bread roll with fried onions and tomato sauce for a traditional hot dog.
After a cold night outdoors, chattering teeth will also love a warming casserole, which can be made in advance for pennies.

SWEET TREATS: To make the most traditional Bonfire Night recipe, parkin, see the recipe at realfood.tesco.com.
You’ll need golden syrup, treacle, soft brown sugar and oatmeal, along with flour, eggs and butter.
The team there has also devised a toffee apple traybake, bringing the traditional treat to life in cake form.
