Tesco to axe 30 popular Heineken beer brands including Amstel, Sol and Tiger from shelves
The supermarket giant has pulled half of its Heineken products of its shelves
TESCO has axed more than half of its Heineken beer and cider products, in a stand against the brewer's planned price hikes in the wake of Brexit.
The supermarket giant is now stocking just 22 Heineken products, down from 53 at the beginning of the year.
Brands including Amstel, Birra Moretti, Sol, Tiger Beer and Kingfisher have been taken off the shelves entirely, while Tesco has also stopped stocking multi-packs of Heineken lager bottles.
It has also ditched Kronenbourg bottles and larger multipacks, selling only four-packs of 440ml cans instead.
The Fosters range has also been severely cut down, and it is now only available in four-packs and twenty-packs of 440ml lager cans.
Fosters Gold, Radlers and Rocks have also all been axed, trade magazine reports.

Although the axing of certain Heineken products is part of the supermarket's "Project Reset" programme, which includes replacing conventional and mainstream beer brands with craft beers and lagers, the drastic review of the Heineken range is also believed to be connected to price negotiations.
Tesco's cull comes a month after the Dutch brewer warned it would increase wholesale prices by an average of 6p a pint across its brands, citing an increase in costs that it was unable to absorb within its business.
While the brewer hasn't officially blamed Brexit for pushing up costs, companies announcing price rises has become an all too common occurrence since the EU referendum last June.
Late last year, Tesco took a stand against Unilever after it demanded a 10 per cent price rise due to Brexit.
The supermarket refused to pay the extra money, and instead pulled popular items such as Marmite and Pot Noodles from its shelves.
A spokesperson for Tesco said: "We frequently review our ranges to ensure they meet the needs of customers. We continue to offer customers a great range of beer, lager and cider."
A Heineken spokesperson said: "We don’t comment on commercial arrangements with our customers. Shoppers will continue to find a broad range of our fantastic beer and cider brands in Tesco."
