Aldi’s knock-off Jo Malone scented candles are selling for SEVEN times the value on eBay
BUDGET Aldi candles that are just like ones from posh Jo Malone were being flogged on eBay for more than seven times the price.
Gutted shoppers took to Twitter to moan after Aldi’s £3.99 of pricey Jo Malone candles were cleared from shelves soon after they went on sale at 8am this morning.
Bosses at the store promoted the scented candles - which they reckon smell just like the Jo Malone ones, which are ten times as dear - as ideal gifts for Mother’s Day.
And it created a buzz among bargain hunters who rushed to buy them - with stocks cleared in most stores immediately.
Some who managed to get them were quick to profit - by flogging them on eBay.
One user is selling the pomegranate version for £29.99 - more than seven times the retail price.
Another is selling all three for £45 - much more than the £12 they cost but still less than the Jo Malone candles they are just like.

The highest paid price paid, so far, for one candle is £15 plus £3 postage.
Angry shoppers who missed out, shared their disappointment on social media.
Rachel Deegan tweeted: “Got up 40 mins early today to head to Aldi for the special buy Jo Malone esk candles... get there and they'd already sold out at 8am!”
And Michelle Coline wrote on the site: “Yes, I did go to Aldi before work to try and nab a 'Jo Malone' candle. Apparently a queue out the door at 8am…”
But Brian North got lucky and sang their praises. He wrote: “As a jo malone snob I doubted the Aldi candles but I can not tell the difference....”
A worker at the Old Kent Road store in south London said: "We had some this morning, but we were very busy.
"People knew about the offer and came in and were buying quite a few at a time.
"I saw one lady put seven candles on the till and a few people have been asking about them, but most stores sold out by 9am I think."
As The Sun Online revealed earlier this week, Aldi’s “knock off” candles come in three scents similar to Jo Malone’s options – pomegranate noir, freesia and pear, or lime basil and mandarin – weighing 290g and cost £3.99 each. Jo Malone’s prices start at £44 for a 200g, while a larger size luxury Jo Malone candle, weighing 2.5kg, costs £200.
Aldi claims its candles have a burning time of 48 hours versus the 45 hours quoted by the Jo Malone website.
The candles will be back in-stock on the Aldi website from March 21. Aldi’s Tony Baines said: “The Luxury Candle range has been one of our most successful Specialbuys."
