Of course, whenever buying a food product, it's a good idea to shop around to make sure you're getting the best price.

You can use price comparison websites like Trolley and Price Spy which trawl through thousands of items across online retailers.

You can also do a quick scan of the internet using the Google Shopping/Product tab.

We could only spot the gingerbread biscuits on sale online at Sainsbury's and Ocado though, with both retailers selling the 266g and 1,322 calorie pack for £1.90.

We have asked McVitie's for a list of retailers where you can find the gingerbread chocolate digestives and will update this story when we have heard back.

Other supermarkets and retailers have already started selling festive stock months in advance of Christmas.

Earlier this month, Aldi shoppers were rushing to buy Celebrations tubs scanning for £4.49.

Quality Street has launched a nostalgic festive tin for £12 too, marking 88 years since it was first manufactured.

Meanwhile, Tesco had shoppers at one branch left baffled this week.

The UK's supermarket was found to be slapping a buy limit on Cadbury Roses despite Christmas being still being around 100 days away.
