How does McDonald's Monopoly work?
PLAYERS who take part in Monopoly can collect stickers from their food packaging that represent train stations or colour co-ordinated road names - much like the classic game.
However, not all menu items are worth the same amount, and this determines how you redeem a prize.
For example, instant win food prizes can be redeemed at any McDonald's branch by handing the token over at the counter when you order.
You'll need to hand the game pieces over to a member of staff when you collect your meal.
To find your nearest store, visit www.mcdonalds.com/gb/en-gb/restaurant-locator.html.
But if you've got a winning token or code, you may need to provide some of your personal details to be able to redeem it, such as your date of birth, email address and phone number.
You will then be asked to choose how you want to receive your winnings, which will be either via email or delivery.
There's also a chance you'll get an app play code to collect. This will be clear when you peel off the sticker.
You'll need to have the app to enter the code and see if you've won a prize.
It's free to download the app either from the Google Android or iPhone app stores.
How to boost your chances of winning McDonald's Monopoly
Choose your food wisely
To win prizes in McDonald's Monopoly you need to check the game pieces on menu items.
Not all menu items are worth the same amount though.
Some food and drinks have up to three game pieces, some have two and others have zero.
Here are the menu items that come with stickers:
- 0.4 & 0.5 Cold Cups
- Medium & Large Fries
- 3 & 5 Chicken Selects
- Philly Cheese Stack
- Chicken Big Mac
- Large Salad Tray
- Cheese Sharebox
- McPlant
- McSpicy
- McCrispy
- Mozzarella Dipper Bag
- 0.3 & 0.4 Blended Ice
- Galaxy McFlurry
- Twix McFlurry
- Deli Wraps
- Veggie Wraps
You need to choose one of the main items above in a meal and choose one of the sides and a drink, and each will come with three tokens.
Unfortunately, faves like original McNuggets and Big Macs don't come with any pieces and never have in McDonald's Monopoly.
Swap fries for a healthy side
While the fast food chain is well known for its fries, you can increase your chances of winning by avoiding the classic.
The sides of salad, veg or fruit bag which you can have as part of a meal come in three pieces.
Fries however come with only two game pieces in a meal.
Campaigners slammed Maccies in previous years for encouraging unhealthy choices which led to a shake-up.
In 2019 (the last time the game ran) the pieces were added to the fruit, veg and salad products for the first time.
Play online games at quiet times
Game pieces come with a code to play games on the app, but you might want to avoid lunch and dinner time.
There are two cash prizes up for grabs per minute and non-cash prizes are "allocated across the hours in that day at random subject to due weighting to take account of anticipated rates of game-play at different times of the day" according to the rules.
In other words, the more people playing the less chance there is to win, so play at less busy times.
Try wombling
Many people won't be playing the Monopoly game or even bother to check the pieces they have, according to MoneySavingExpert.com.
If you spot empty packets or cups on tables, it's worth checking to see if there is a tile you can use.

This practice is known as "wombling", though it's not always approved by companies, but millions of people do it across the country.
