What is a finance analyst?

Put simply, the job involves examining financial and business data to help companies make the best investment decisions based on your forecast.

With the world being so volatile right now, analysts are in strong demand to help organisations make savvier decisions.

Most analysts have in-depth knowledge of particular markets or industries, meaning they are experts in their field and can see economic trends earlier than anyone else.

The role involves analysing these economic trends, other financial information and business news. There are two main types of finance analysts.

Buy-side analysts work for insurance companies or hedge funds or to assist firms with their investment strategies, while Sell-side analysts advise financial service sales agents who issue, sell or trade investments such as stocks and bonds.

Where do finance analysts work?

Anywhere changing economic trends matter.

There are roles for finance analysts at financial institutions like banks, investment firms and pension funds, and some big businesses also hire internal finance analysts to monitor their investment strategies.
