GET the weekend off to a good start with a romantic date.
While dinner and drinks can be very pricey, there are ways to get sparks flying without burning through cash.
Here are some lovely ideas . . .
BOARD GAMES: Get competitive without working up a sweat with an evening of board or card games.
You could play them at home or take a couple of games to a local park on a sunny evening with a picnic.
STARGAZING: This is the perfect cheap and romantic date. You will need a night when the forecast is clear and layer-up to stay warm. Forests are often some of the best places to look for stars.

Forestry England has a free guide including the best stargazing spots, as well as information on constellations and night games, which you can download at forestryengland.uk.
SIGHTSEEING: Brushing up on the history of your local area can be fun. Look for free museums near you or places of interest. If you are close to a city, including Bath, Chester or Inverness, try a hop-on hop-off bus tour.
Walking tours are another option — check walkingtoursin.com for locations.
LOVE MATCH: There is nothing like a bit of healthy competition to get the blood flowing. Why not put on your sports gear for a fun game of tennis. Park courts may be free or you can often book for around £3 per half an hour. To find your nearest tennis court, head over to lta.org.uk.

‘TREASURE’ TRAIL: Bond over the challenge of finding a geocache — a small box with a logbook — using GPS. Download the free Geocaching app, create an account and decide which cache you want to search for. The app will guide you to the box, and sign the logbook once found. There are millions to find — so you can play virtually anywhere — and half the fun is they are often hiding in plain sight.
