I DELETED email saying I won £76k lotto jackpot because I was sure it was a scam – it took big step to convince me

It took him a week to realise he'd won

A MAN who bagged £76,000 on the Postcode Lottery says he DELETED his winners' email - thinking it was a scam.

Cautious Colin, 59, got nervous when he saw emails piling into his inbox telling him he'd won last week.

Beauty therapy student Ashley and HGV driver hubby Colin also won big

After ignoring the notifications he was left gobsmacked when he spotted camera crews trundling down his street.

The retiree, from Tyne and Wear, recalled: "I had two emails from Postcode Lottery and thought, "No, this is a scam", and deleted them.

"I drove back home, as I'd been swimming this morning, and then I saw the Postcode Lottery camera crew.

"It feels fantastic. I've just retired so it's a bonus."

Colin won exactly £76,923 and is among ten neighbours in South Shields who scooped part of a £1 million jackpot.

The win comes at the perfect time for the granddad-of-three who retired last year after working the same job at Siemens for 40 years.

He now plans to splash the cash on a one-in-a-lifetime trip to America with wife Gwen to celebrate his 60th in September.

The pensioner hopes to tick off San Francisco, the world-famous Napa Valley wine region, LA and then hop on a week-long cruise before hitting San Diego and Mexico.
