HUNTING for a new job can be daunting – but looking the part will boost your confidence.
A smart appearance is also often key to making a good impression.
Investing in outfits can be pricey but there are ways to cut costs . . .
FREE DRY CLEAN: If you are jobless but have an interview lined up, get your outfit dry cleaned for free at Timpson.
There are more than 500 branches that offer the service. You do not need any voucher, and the type of clothing can vary.
However, you will need to tell staff in the shop a little about your opportunity, so they can make sure you genuinely have an interview to attend.

NEW OUTFIT: If you are not sure where to start when dressing for an interview, one charity can be a godsend.
Smart Works helps women find good- quality outfits for an interview — at no charge. Each person who uses the charity gets a dressing consultation and volunteers source clothing that can be kept for future use. The charity also offers a one-to-one coaching session with an expert interview coach.
And once a woman lands a job, she can return for a second dressing and get a “capsule” wardrobe of essentials to see her through to the first pay day.
People are referred for the service through organisations such as Jobcentres, mental health charities, refuges and shelters. For information about being referred, call 020 7288 1770.

LOCAL SUPPORT: There are many regional initiatives to help people look their best on interview day.
If you live in the London area, suitedbootedcentre.org.uk has a style and clothing service for men. Suitedforsuccess.co.uk is based in Birmingham and helps men and women.
Housing association tenants and other selected groups in South Wales can create a work-suitable outfit through workingwardrobe.org. Ask at your JobCentre for support.
