A GOOD set of eyelash extensions can make you feel instantly glamourous.
But regular trips to the salon blow a big hole in the budget.
Here, we ask expert Hayley Walker, of JustMyLook.com, for her top tips on doing your own at home . . .
FIND YOUR STYLE: First, decide which lashes to use. To look natural, choose extensions of a similar thickness and length to your own.
Hayley says: “If you want to achieve a sultry ‘cat eye’ look, apply longer lengths at the end of your eyes.
“For an ‘open eye’ effect, apply the longer lengths toward the centre. For a natural finish, use short to medium-length lashes throughout.”

CLEAN UP: Before applying your exten-sions, prep by cleaning the eye area with an oil-free cleanser to remove make-up and any grime.
Then pat dry.
Curling your natural lashes before application can help, too.

Then lay out your kit with a mirror and a good pair of tweezers, which you’ll need for application.
READY TO APPLY: Pick up a lash using your tweezers and dip the tip in glue.
Be wary of applying too much glue as this can result in residue on your lashes and irritated eyes.
Hayley recommends starting from the middle of your eye and working your way outwards.
She says: “Rest the tip of the lash on top of your lash line.
“Try to get it as close as possible without touching your skin, as this can result in clumped lashes that stick together.”
As you apply the extensions, alternate eyes to help create a symmetrical, even finish on both sides.
Once fully dried, gently brush the lashes upwards using a clean spoolie brush.
Avoid using oil-based make-up when the extensions are in place, which can make them fall out faster.
