Major bargain retailer to axe ‘brilliant’ rewards scheme TOMORROW – and shoppers are ‘outraged’

A MAJOR bargain retailer is to axe its loyalty card scheme tomorrow and shoppers are "outraged".
The Works shoppers will not be able to collect points on its "Together Rewards" scheme after tomorrow (Saturday, March 30).
The scheme, which first launched in 2013, allows shoppers to collect five points for every pound spent in stores or online.
Over time shoppers rack up these points and receive money-off vouchers to use in stores.
The retailer sent out an email to all customers last month informing them of the news.
Shoppers have until 23.59pm tomorrow night to collect points, meaning there's little over 24 hours to go.
But customers will have a little longer to redeem vouchers from collected points.
The deadline for this is 23.59pm on June 29.
The Works fans have taken to social media to share their disappointment over the decision to end scheme that some have described as "brilliant".
One Facebook user said: "Proper outraged."
Another wrote: "Oh nooooooo, it’s such a good rewards card."
While a third added: "I literally just got one of these a couple weeks ago!"
In the email to customers Gavin Peck, chief executive officer of The Works, said: “After careful consideration, we have decided to end our ‘Together Rewards’ loyalty scheme.
“Against a challenging economic backdrop, we have had to look at ways to maintain the most important thing for our customers - everyday affordable prices – whilst also making savings across our business.
The retailer added it was a tough decision for it to make and it hopes to explore other ways of rewarding its customers.
Customers are being reminded they have just days to make use of the scheme due to be axed.
The Together Rewards Loyalty scheme allows shoppers to collect five points for every £1 spent in The Works stores.
Each point is worth 1p meaning 50 points would equal 50p.
Every three months, Together Rewards Loyalty members would receive vouchers based on the points they earned on their cards.
Together Rewards Loyalty members would also receive exclusive offers, gifts and bonus points during promotions.
The retailer confirmed no one should have been able to sign up for the Together Rewards scheme past February 27.
If you collect 50 points or more between January 1 and March 30 you will be issued with a voucher early next month.
Anyone who receives these final vouchers will have until June 29 to spend them.
If you do not collect the minimum of 50 points between January 1 to March 30 they will not roll over past March 30.
If you wish to return something you bought with a voucher you will need to bring into a store with a receipt no more than 28 days after you purchased it.
Anyone who returns items paid for with a voucher will be issued with a gift card.
