Each of the products are commemorative additions and are uncirculated.

This means you'll have to buy them from The Royal Mint if you want to add one to your collection.

The 50ps are designed to commemorate specific events or anniversaries occurring in 2024.

For example, one of the coins launching this year celebrates 200 years of the RNLI.

The 50p coin marking the 200th anniversary of the RNLI was first unveiled by The Mint at the end of 2023 when a set of new commemorative coin designs marking 2024’s most significant anniversaries and milestones was announced.

People can buy the coins from The Royal Mint’s website, with prices ranging from £12 for a brilliant uncirculated coin and £21 for a colour version to £1,220 for a gold coin.

How do I find out what my coin is worth?

If you're lucky enough to pick up a rare coin in your spare change, it could go for hundreds of pounds depending on how rare it is.

You should check how much the coin is selling for on eBay.

Search the full name of the coin, select the "sold" listing and then toggle the search to "highest value".

It will give you an idea of the amount of money that the coin is going for.

But remember, a buyer could always pull out so the coin may not have gone for the price it says it has.

And watch out for fakes too.

You can also use an online tool that gives you an estimate of how much it could be worth on eBay, as well as any other rare coins you have.

Coin Hunter gives you an estimated valuation of your coin based on the average of the most recent sales, as well as a range of how much you can expect it to fetch.

Plus Change Checker's Scarcity Index will give you a good idea of how rare a coin is.

Another collectable 50p coin sporting the diplodocus has been launched by The Mint as part of its dinosaur range.

It's the third and final coin in the range, which also includes a tyrannosaurus and stegosaurus.

Each dinosaur has been designed by paleo-artist Robert Nicholls, with guidance from Professor Paul Barrett at the Natural History Museum.
