Three budget-friendly tips for your woodland strolls to make most of spring sights
YOU know spring has finally arrived when bluebells begin to appear.
And you can have a fantastic time finding them on woodland strolls.
Here’s how to make the most of the flowers.
But be considerate of nature and your fellow flower-lovers — stick to paths and watch where you step.
A WALK IN THE WOODS: Bluebells are typically found in mature broadleaf woodlands or along hedgerows in moist and shady conditions.
You can ask nature or community groups for the best places nearby to find displays. Forestry England has put together a list of top spots, including Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest in Kent, Hamsterley Forest, County Durham and Mortimer Forest, Shropshire. Find more online.

The Woodland Trust has the best spots in Scotland and Wales, including Crinan Wood and Keil’s Den, Largo, Coed Cefn, Crickhowell and Plas Power Woods, Wrexham (woodlandtrust.org.uk).
SNAP HAPPY: A sea of blue makes a magical backdrop for family pictures.
You don’t need a fancy camera — you can work with your phone.
Take multiple shots, playing around with different poses and from various angles. You are bound to capture a couple of moments that are worth keeping hold of, but do take care not to trample flowers.

WALK IT OUT: A woodland stroll is good for the soul, but you can also make it financially beneficial.
There are a number of apps that will pay or offer rewards just for walking with your phone. Try downloading Sweatcoin, which costs nothing to use and converts steps to points which can be used to buy services or goods linked with the app.
The Cashwalk app works in a similar way.
Or you can earn money for a good cause while walking with the Charity Miles app.
