Brits devastated as Cadbury confirms ‘nostalgic’ Easter chocolate is AXED because of customers’ ‘changing taste buds’
The ‘NOSTALGIC’ Cadbury Dairy Milk Egg 'n' Spoon cartons were discontinued last year before Easter, but some fans are just finding out now.
Produced over a decade ago, Egg ‘n’ Spoons consisted of four chocolate eggs in a carton filled with vanilla or chocolate mousse and even a special Oreo variety.
But Cadbury, owned by Mondelez, confirmed last year that the egg cartons which contained their spoon “have been discontinued to reflect our fans' changing taste buds.”
In the build-up to Easter egg season this year, Cadbury is still having to break the news to outraged fans on X, formerly Twitter.
Cadbury reconfirmed that the nostalgic Easter treat had been axed when one mother wrote of her son's heartbreak.
She said: “My son is very nostalgic of the egg ‘n’ spoon chocolate eggs. As it is Easter, he wanted me to buy some. I have just found out that it is discontinued! Why? He says he is heartbroken. Kids' taste buds do not change! A real shame!”

Cadbury commented on the post: “However, we have some great new treats to try this year!” These include a new Dairy Milk Half & Half Ultimate Easter egg and the new Creme Egg Bar.
Fans have called Cadbury's discontinuation of Egg ‘n’ Spoon chocolate eggs a "crime", on X (formerly Twitter).
One user wrote “This is the worst day of my life”, with another stating, “missing egg n spoon intensely right now hope Cadbury knows what it has done to me”.
One fan added: “My villain origin story will be the fact that Cadbury has discontinued their egg n' spoons”
And a fourth has called for change, saying: “Petition to get CadburyUK to bring back egg n’ spoons back.”
This comes as Cadbury has told customers that Mini Egg cartons will not be returning this year, as well as the Caramel bunnies that have disappeared. One shopper wrote: "Cadbury always discontinues their best chocolates."
Cadbury is not the only chocolate brand with Easter eggs vanishing off the shelves, with Mars' Galaxy Enchanted Eggs discontinued and the dark chocolate bar being removed from the Easter Bounty egg box.
