Welcome the Chinese Year Of The Dragon with four savvy ways to create tasty dishes for less & bag freebies
WITH the Lunar New Year celebrations starting tomorrow, it’s a great reason to spice things up in gloomy February.
Use your noodle to create tasty dishes for a fraction of the cost of a takeaway, or bag the best deals on Asian eats.
Welcome the Chinese Year Of The Dragon with these monster munchies.
RICE AND EASY: Egg fried rice makes a cheap and tasty meal.
Heat a teaspoon of oil in a frying pan, add a pouch of rice, 50p from Sainsbury’s, and cook for two minutes, then add three tablespoons of soy sauce and a whisked egg.
Stir as you fry for a further minute. You can also add some cooked chicken or pork, cubes of tofu, cooked frozen peas or edamame beans.

FANTASTIC FAKEAWAYS: Instead of forking out for a Chinese takeaway, make a fakeaway at home for far less.
Whip up a delicious stir-fry by frying finely chopped vegetables with a little garlic and ginger. Garlic powder and dried ginger is fine if you don’t have fresh.
Meat-eaters can cook up some low-cost pork mince or beef strips to add to the dish. Mix in a pack of cooked noodles and finish with soy and chilli sauces.
MEAL DEALS: Most of the supermarkets have a stir-fry meal deal, offering noodles, vegetables and a sauce.
