It comes as Mars said it was experiencing issues with its supply chain after recalling some of its Revels which contained rubber balls.

Aldi and Tesco both have the 112g share bag available to buy on their websites for £1.49.

But some shoppers are reporting seeing them missing from a host of other retailers, including Sainsbury's and Morrisons.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, one said: "Is there a national shortage of Revels???!!! None in Morrisons, Sainsbury's Tesco's or Co-Op!!"

"Please don’t tell me they have stopped making them!!!!"

A third person commented: "Is there a shortage of Revels. Can't find them anywhere.

And a fourth simply asked: "Is there a world shortage of Revels."

An Asda spokesperson confirmed the product was out of stock but that it would be "back out online and in store asap."

Sainsbury's declined to comment when approached by The Sun.

Morrisons and Co-op were asked to comment.

It comes after Mars, which produces Revels, urgently recalled the chocolate in December over safety fears.

The chocolatier urged customers to take them back to stores after some were found to have rubber balls in them.

A spokesperson for the firm said the product recall had impacted its Revels supply chain.

They added: "We have now recovered our stock levels and are able to supply in full again."

The Revels shortage is not the first to hit shoppers in recent years.

Households were left facing limited stock of two varieties of wine last month following issues in the Panama Canal.

Thousands of ships travel via the canal every year, but a drought towards the end of 2023 saw only a limited amount of vessels allowed through the waterway, leading to delays in shipping stock.

Marco Forgione, director general of the Institute of Export and International Trade, said it could see supplies of Californian Chardonnays and Chilean Merlots affected.

Retail expert Dr Amna Khan told The Sun it could lead to rising prices on toys and presents in the run up to Christmas too.

Meanwhile, in February last year, shoppers were faced with shortages of fresh fruit and vegetables across supermarkets following cold weather in Spain and Morocco.

In November 2022, households were hit with an egg shortage as retailers started rationing how many customers could buy.

Plus, in July 2022, supermarkets were hit with a crisp shortage following an IT glitch.
