EGGS IN A BASKET: This bread roll recipe can be adapted for whatever you have at home.

Scoop a hole in the top of the rolls. Crack an egg in the cavity and top with a tablespoon of grated cheddar cheese. Bake in a preheated 180C oven for around ten minutes until the egg white is cooked.

Spare mushrooms, chorizo or tomatoes can be chopped and fried for a few minutes and added to the roll before topping with the egg.

BRIE FONDUE: Enjoy this recipe from Gemma Sokol (@gemtakesfoodpics on Insta). You’ll need a loaf of bread and pack of brie (£1.69 from Sainsbury’s).

Cut a hole in the top of your loaf and slice the top off the cheese and score before popping in the cavity. If you have an open bottle of prosecco or white wine, pour a glug on the brie.

Bake in a preheated 180C oven for around ten minutes, add another glug of wine or prosecco and bake for five minutes. Use the bread from middle to dip in the cheese.

CHILLI: A hearty chilli con carne tastes amazing served in a roll or loaf. This Tesco Real Food serves four people for around £1.74 each.

Fry one diced onion in a pan until soft, then add a pack of beef mince and cook for five minutes. Mix in one teaspoon each of chilli powder and ground cumin, plus a tablespoon of tomato puree and half a teaspoon of paprika.

Add a tin each of chopped tomatoes and kidney beans, plus a beef stock cube and a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Fill the tomato tin with water and stir in well before simmering the mixture for an hour, adding a little water if it gets too dry.
