The retailer is selling a giant thermal family blanket in stores for just £18 - and it won't cost you anything to run.

Shoppers can choose from three different colours - black, charcoal and silver, but stock is low.

A message on B&M's website reads: "Hurry low stock."

The retailer previously shared the bargain buy to its Facebook page claiming it is the perfect "energy saving" hack.

Shoppers were quick to heap praise on the nifty gadget, with one stating: "I think I need this in my life."

Another said: "Good for when you're freezing because of pure greed."

Meanwhile, a third added: "I use them as throws as I can never find throws big enough to fit the sofa."

Anyone looking to pick up one of the blankets will have to head to their nearest branch as B&M doesn't do home delivery.

How else to save money on energy bills

Thermal throws are just one of a number of energy-saving gadgets you can use to keep warm during cold weather.

Electric blankets are great at keeping you cosy in bed and usually much cheaper than turning on the heating.

Heated throws are another great option, and can be used on the sofa too, while portable heaters are useful for keeping you toasty warm.

You can get targeted support to help cover energy bills as well.

The Household Support Fund is available to families in England, with the latest round of funding worth £842million.

Who qualifies for help varies depending on where you live as each council sets it own eligibility criteria.

However, in most cases, help is offered to those on a low income or benefits.

Some councils are handing out energy and supermarket vouchers while others are transferring money directly into bank accounts.

You should get in touch with your local council to see what help is available.

You can find your nearest council by using the Government's council locator tool online and entering your postcode.

You might also be able to get help paying for bills through a grant from your energy firm.

Companies such as British Gas, Octopus Energy and EDF offer free money to households struggling to cover their bills.

But how much you can get and eligibility criteria varies from firm to firm. Get in touch with yours to see what help is on offer.
