Asda slashes the price of winter gadget to avoid putting the heating on and shoppers say it’s ‘perfect for cold nights’
WINTER is really starting to bite so before you reach for the thermostat it might be worth checking out the latest deals on electric blankets.
Shoppers are flocking to Asda for an electric blanket that has been slashed in price and fans say it’s perfect for cold nights.
All three sizes of the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket have seen a price drop on Asda’s George home site.
The deal, which was spotted by shows the single size has gone down to £15 from £20 and the double size is now £19 instead of £25.
The electric blanket is made from super snuggly fleece material so it will keep you warm and cosy even if it is not on.
You can control how hot the blanket is through an easy-to-use control, which has three different settings.

However, the blanket does have overheating protection just in case you leave it running.
And Asda reckons this gadget will cost you just 1p an hour to run.
The electric blanket has received rave reviews online.
One user shopper: “Very easy to use and perfect for cold nights.”

Unfortunately, the king size of this blanket is already sold out so you’ll have to look elsewhere if you want an electric blanket of that size.
You can get the same blanket on Argos, however the prices on the Argo ite start from £40.
Currys also has the Silentnight blanket and its prices start from £34.99.
It’s always worth shopping around as you may be able to find an electric blanket cheaper elsewhere.
Remember the cost per hour will depend on the size and power wattage of the blanket.
If you are ordering online you will need to factor in a delivery charge.
Affordable ways to stay warm this winter
There are plenty of other affordable ways you can stay warm this winter.
Get yourself a hot water bottle, you can them in lots of different shapes and sizes.
They are always great for a cost-free way of keeping warm.
Don't forget about preventative measures, draught-proof your home and seal your windows to stop cold air from coming in.
Prices for draught excludes start from a fiver in most stores but a thick blanket rolled up next to a draughty door will work just as well.
Seal up any draughty windows with easy-to-use draught excluders, prices for them start at £1.99 and they could save up to £70 on your energy bills.
Loft insulation is also very important as it can stop heat escaping, therefore slashing your heating bill.
